When I flew into the city of Zurich, the sun had already set and the city shone in a thousand bright lights. There was only one dark spot in the centre, where electricity was completely banned. It was the spiritual district, I had heard a lot about it. This neighbourhood was only lit with petrol lanterns and candles, which is why it was much darker than the other parts of the city.
Three tall towers stood above the three entrance gates. After a quick transfer from the airposrt, I soon reached the north gate. I was allowed to pass through the gate after a short check of my personality. The street behind the gate was very busy and filled with intense odours that were familiar to me. Incense was burning in many small niches in the old houses walls, creating the intense odours. In other niches, small candles or oil lamps were burning. The walls were black from the smoke of the many candles and lamps, but when I took a closer look, I realised that there were rich decorations of symbols or sacred characters under the layer of soot.
From the north gate, I walked southwards along the processional axis. Many house entrances were open and various sounds could be heard coming from the houses. Some rooms were brightly lit with torches and candles, others were gloomy, but in every room there were people engaged in lively discussions or rituals. Behind some inconspicuous façades, richly decorated chapels or temples opened up, filled with mesmerising sounds and haunting chants.
I entered the familiar place of the Order of the Universal Sound. My soulmates greeted me warmly an invited me to their circle.
A narrow corridor leads to the centre at the back of the room, where a golden disc floats in the middle, illuminated by a narrow beam of light. The room is filled with the sound of the universe and invites visitors to tune in, which I do.
