About me

Hello,
I am Eloïn, also known as Marc Zürcher, a musician, composer and sound designer based in Zurich, creating atmospheric music and soundscapes. In my work, I use sounds, noises, melodies and textures to explore moods and different ways of listening.

Sound and music make it possible to experience what is hidden and still waiting to be discovered. They have the ability to cross boundaries and reveal new dimensions. Music, for me, is a direct way into feeling and perception: honest, immediate, and beyond language.

Originally trained in piano, I later expanded my practice to include a range of acoustic and electronic instruments. Experimentation and improvisation are important to my work.

I am interested in how sound can carry stories – whether in theater, film, exhibitions or other formats. It can give narratives a subtle presence, shape their atmosphere and make them felt in vivid and immersive ways. Text can become part of this process as voice, narrative or another layer within the music.

With a Master’s degree in Architecture from ETH Zurich and a MAS in Creative Practice from ZHdK, complemented by studies in Spatial Design and Sound Design, I bring a spatial and atmospheric sensibility to my work. I view sound and music as a spatial and emotional presence, as something that can be composed, listened to and felt.

I am also a trained yoga teacher. Yoga has helped me discover another way of approaching music and listening. This is why I feel closely connected to Deep Listening, a practice developed by Pauline Oliveros. Some of these practices also find their way into my yoga classes.

My compositions and sessions are an invitation to listen closely, discover unexpected sounds and experience familiar things in new ways.

Love, Eloïn
